PELLA.— The doubles point was the difference as the Central College women's tennis lost 4-3 against Willamette University (Ore.) Monday.
Hosting the Bearcats (3-10) on their weekend trip to Iowa, the Dutch (6-6) lost the crucial doubles point after winning just one of the three pairings.
Sidney Peterson (freshman, Johnston) and
Emily Blom (sophomore, Pella) teamed up for a 6-4 victory in the No. 3 spot.
The two teams eventually split the six singles matches.
Lauren Gano (junior, Johnston) was a 6-4, 6-2 winner at No. 2 singles, Peterson won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 and
Rebekah Christensen (junior, Marshalltown) was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No. 6. Those three have started the spring 2-0 in singles play.
