PELLA.— The bottom half of Central College's women's tennis lineup guided them to a 4-3 victory over Northwestern College Friday afternoon.
After taking the doubles point, Central needed just three singles to claim the team win. The Dutch rattled off wins at Nos. 4, 5 and 6 to get the job done.
Emily Blom (sophomore, Pella) won 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 slot,
Sidney Peterson (freshman, Johnston) won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5 and
Rebekah Christensen (junior, Marshalltown) won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 6. Petersen and Christensen are now 3-0 in singles to start the spring.
Claire Smock (freshman, Pella) and
Jenna Mitsuko Mahoney (senior, Misawa, Japan, Robert D. Edgren HS) teamed up to win 6-2 at No. 2 doubles while Blom and Peterson won 6-2 at No. 3 to give the Dutch the doubles point.
The Dutch travel to Rock Island, Illinois for an April 1 match against Augustana College (Ill.).
