PELLA — The Central College men's tennis team could not find the fourth point needed in a narrow 4-3 loss to Willamette University (Ore.) Monday.
Central (1-10) started strong by taking two out of three doubles matches for the doubles point.
Bodi Kortz (freshman, Wormerveer, Netherlands/St. Michael College) and
Alex Slaymaker (Junior, Geneseo, Ill. won a thrilling 7-6 No. 1 match. The No. 2 tandem of
Ernest Alvarez Chedzoy (junior, Kerrville, Texas, Tivy HS) and
Gavin Jablonski (junior, Marshalltown) were victorious 6-4.
Jablonski won 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 4 match and
Hayden Sinclair (junior, Ames) won 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 at No. 6. Central needed to win a third singles match for the team victory.
The Dutch travel to Grinnell College Saturday.
