PELLA — Making its debut on its home field Sunday, the Central College softball team beat Millikin University (Ill.) 6-2 and 3-1.
Central (15-1) ran its winning streak to 12 with the victories over Millikin (8-7)
A three-run first inning put Central in front early during the opener. The Dutch put up another crooked number with two in the third. Central outhit Millikin 9-3 in the contest.
Sarah Stufflebeam (junior, Macomb, Ill.) and
Ali Henry (sophomore, Osceola, Clarke HS) each had two hits and a double during the first game. Henry also scored twice.
Jadyn Huisman (sophomore, Treynor) started in the circle and went 4.1 innings for her seventh win of the season. She allowed just one run and one hit, walking four and striking out three.
Ella Morse (freshman, Tucson, Ariz., Sabino HS) closed out the game with 2.2 innings, allowing two hits and one run.
Huisman got her first save of the season in the second game after
Peyton Levine (freshman, Oswego, Ill., Yorkville HS) started and went 6.1 innings, Levine walked six and gave up six hits though just one earned run crossed the plate. Huisman retired both batters she faced.
Rylee Dunkin (junior, Hamilton, Twin Cedars HS) had two hits from her leadoff spot.
Addi Starr (sophomore, Ankeny, Centennial HS) also had two hits.
The Dutch host Illinois College for a 2 p.m. Saturday doubleheader.
