Central women slip to No. 18 in national track rankings

Dutch men return to the top 10

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA — With the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships set for this weekend, the Central College men are No. 10 in the seventh USTFCCCCA Indoor Checkpoint of the season released Tuesday.

The Dutch women are No. 18 in the most recent poll

Points in the National Team Rating Index are based off placement in the National Descending Order Lists. The higher an athlete sits on the top-35 list, the more points he or she adds to his or her team's total. These points do not reflect placement or scoring at the NCAA Championships but are to show the individuals and teams that have the best chances at scoring well at said meet.

Gage Huyser's (senior, Pella) heptathlon score of 5,007 points at the Wartburg Final Qualifier gave Central its fifth men's individual entry in the top. Huyser sits No. 7 in the event. Grant Miller (senior, Norwalk) also moved up to No. 29 in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.16 seconds at the Wartburg Final Qualifier.

The women's distance medley relay team of Maddy Stevens (freshman, Grimes, Dallas Center-Grimes HS), Olivia Phillips (freshman, St. Charles, Interstate 35 HS), Kyra Cordes (freshman, Marion) and Peyton Steffen (senior, Marion) are the No. 9 time nationally in 11:45.33. Cordes also added the No. 29 time in the 800-meter run in 2:14.66
