PELLA — The Central College men's tennis team was on the losing of both matches it played in its home debut Saturday.
Central (0-5) fell 6-1 in the first match against the Milwaukee School of Engineering (Wis.) and 5-2 in the nightcap against Grand View University.
The Dutch took the doubles point against Grand View as
Ernest Alvarez Chedzoy (junior, Kerrville, Texas, Tivy HS) and
Gavin Jablonski (junior, Marshalltown) won 6-4 at No. 2 doubles while
Donovan Klish (sophomore, Liberty, Mo., North HS) and
Hayden Sinclair (junior, Ames) won 7-5 at No. 3 doubles.
Francisco Centeno (freshman, Mexico City, Mexico, Centro Educativo Jean Piaget) added a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles.
Bodi Kortz's (freshman, Wormerveer, Netherlands/St. Michael College) 6-0, 6-3 victory at the top of the singles lineup was the lone point for Central against MSOE. He also won his No. 1 doubles match 6-5 with
Alex Slaymaker but MSOE earned the doubles point.
Central is off for two weeks before hosting Quincy University (Ill.) on Friday, February 27 at 4 p.m.
