PELLA — Jumping out to a 29-13 lead after the first quarter sparked the Central College women's basketball team to a 73-50 win over Luther College Saturday, securing its spot in the American Rivers Conference tournament.

The Dutch (12-13, 7-9 American Rivers Conference) will be the No. 6 seed and travel to No. 3 Buena Vista University for Tuesday's quarterfinal game.

Central was 9 of 16 from the field in the first quarter, including four made 3-pointers. Luther only led for 3 minutes and 14 seconds of the contest.

Five Central players reached double figures in scoring, including seniors Jasmyn Williams (senior, Commerce City, Colo., Arvada West HS) and Bailey Reding (senior, Grundy Center) who each had 10. Emily Naughton (guard, junior, Indianola) led the squad with 11 while Kaitlyn Mumm (junior, Waukee, Des Moines Christian HS) and CeCe Moore (forward, junior, Waterloo, West HS) also had 10.
