PELLA — A dominant effort by the Central College men's wrestling team at its home Last Chance Invitational saw Central finish atop seven of 10 brackets.
No team scores were kept at this meet that largely serves as the final matches for non-varsity members of programs.
Aiden Irvin (freshman, Goodyear, Ariz.) piled up the points in all three of his matches at 125 pounds. Starting with a 22-10 major decision, followed by an 18-14 decision and 18-2 technical fall.
Justin Dallas (senior, Dixon, Ill.) and
Ryan Rainey (freshman, Arlington, Texas, James Martin HS) shared the 197-pound title after they both pinned the other two participants of their four-man round robin bracket.
Nathan Rosas (senior, Harvard, Ill.) went 3-0 at 184 pounds with wins by fall and technical fall to win that title.
Kevin Hogan (senior, Monee, Ill.) Peotone HS) was 4-0 en route to the 165-pound title.
Freshman
Bode Stanley (freshman, Osceola, Interstate 35 HS) won all three of his matches at 174 pounds for the crown. Two major decisions and a technical fall ended in a 149-pound bracket championship for
Bryson Spaulding (sophomore, Villa Park, Ill., IC Catholic Prep).
Nicholas Trujillio (freshman, Benicia, Calif.) and
Lukas Spaur (junior, Knoxville) also shared the title at 141 pounds, winning all five of their combined matches by fall or technical fall.
Central is headed to the NCAA Division III Lower Midwest Regional at the Five Flags Center in Dubuque on Friday, February 27 and Saturday, February 28.
