PELLA — The Central College men's basketball team held Simpson College under 60 points for the second time all season in a 69-57 win over the Storm Wednesday night.
The Dutch (12-10, 5-8 American Rivers Conference) also pulled even with the Storm (8-14, 5-8 conference) in the league standings.
Central only netted three steals but held Simpson to 38.7% from the field on 24 of 62 shooting. The Dutch also held a 40-28 advantage on rebounding, with the Storm only getting seven offensive rebounds.
Owen Schipper (sophomore, Waukee HS) and
Kyle Cason (freshman, Grimes, Dallas Center-Grimes HS) each had double-doubles with exactly 10 points and 10 rebounds apiece.
Anthony Gott (sophomore, Davenport, North Scott HS) was the leading scorer with 18 points and nine rebounds.
Braylon Thomsen (freshman, Carbon Cliff, Ill., Davenport Assumption HS [Iowa]) also chipped in 15 points.
Central travels to Waverly Saturday for a 4 p.m. game against Wartburg College.
