NORTHFIELD, MINNESOTA— A loaded field at the Running of the Cows saw the Central College women's cross country team finish 22nd of 35 teams Saturday.
Hosted by Carleton College (Minn.), this year's Running of the Cows served as a pre-national meet because the course will host the NCAA Division III Championships in November.
Central totaled 606 points for a 22nd place finish. Williams College was team champion with 79 points. Haley Schoenegge of Vassar College (N.Y.) was the individual champion in the 56,000-meter race in 21 minutes, 7 seconds.
Maddy Stevens (sophomore, Grimes, Dallas Center-Grimes HS) paced Central in 32nd place in 22:07. Freshman
Audrey Dummermuth (Johnston) was next in 130th (23:11.5), followed by senior
Teah Miller (Iowa Falls, Iowa Falls-Alden HS) in 163rd (23:27.0).
Addison Dabroski (Marion) in 165th (23:27.8) and
Morgan Back (freshman, Van Meter, Winterset HS)in 194th (23:40) gave Central two more freshmen in the scoring lineup.
Sophomores
Brynn Wilson (Huxley, Ballard HS) and
Olivia Primrose (sophomore, Palo, Vinton-Shellsburg HS) completed the seven-women varsity lineup in in 219th (23:52) and 278th (24:41)
Central travels to Rock Island, Illinois for the Augustana Interregional meet on Saturday, October 17.
