DUBUQUE— In the middle of a busy stretch of American Rivers Conference wrestling duals, the No. 9 Central College men's wrestling team lost 30-14 at No. 5 Loras College Thursday night.
Central's
Cade Siebrecht (senior, 149 pounds, Lisbon) won the only match of the night between ranked opponents, as the 11th-ranked Siebrecht won 4-1 in sudden victory over No. 11 Chase Fiser. Siebrecht previously defeated No. 9 Caleb Olson of Wartburg College Saturday.
Pierre Baldwin (senior, Chicago, Ill., West Chicago HS, the highest-ranked wrestler on either team at No. 2 at 141 pounds, won in a 19-2 technical fall.
Scoring four points in the third period propelled
Kevin Hogan (senior, Monee, Ill., Peotone HS) to a 5-4 win at 165 pounds. The Dutch got a fourth win from 197-pounder
Sam West (senior, Burlington, Notre Dame HS), who was victorious in a 6-0 decision.
Central was without its third ranked wrestler, No. 14
Christian Stanek (junior, Cedar Rapids, Xavier HS) at 157 pounds. His replacement,
Manny Holloway (sophomore, Evanston, Ill., Evanston Township HS) made his collegiate dual debut.
Nathan Rosas (senior, Harvard, Ill.) also made his season debut at 184 pounds. Both Holloway and Rosas were facing ranked opponents.
Central hosts No. 12 Luther College Tuesday at 7 p.m. The match is set to be televised on Iowa PBS as its only broadcast of a Division III men's dual this season.
