Women's Track and Field

Both Dutch track and field teams start in national top 15

Central has a combined 18 entries in the national top-35 lists

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA — In the first USTFCCCCA Indoor Checkpoint of the season, the Central College men's track and field team is No. 6 nationally while the women's team is No. 14

Points in the National Team Rating Index are based off placement in the National Descending Order Lists. The higher an athlete sits on the top-35 list, the more points he or she adds to his or her team's total. These points do not reflect placement or scoring at the NCAA Championships but are to show the individuals and teams that have the best chances at scoring well at said meet.

The Dutch men have three entries sitting No. 2 in the country this week. Gunner Meyer (senior, Fairbank, Wapsie Valley HS) in the 60-meter hurdles (7.92 seconds), Kale Hobart (junior, Mason City) in the heptathlon (5,069 points) and Jack Brown (junior, Norwalk) in the mile (4 minutes, 7.80 seconds). Kale Purcell (fifth year, Holton, Kan.) is also No. 6 in the triple jump (48 feet, 6 inches)

On the women's side, Olivia Bohlen (senior, Belle Plaine) is No. 2 in the pentathlon at 3,534 points. Peyton Steffen is No. 4 in the mile at 4:55.68. The 4x400-meter relay squad of Bohlen, Emily McMartin (senior, Pella), Alivia Roerdink (sophomore, Tiffin, Ohio, Hopewell-Loudon HS) and Ava Parkins (senior, Monmouth, Ill., Burlington Notre Dame [Iowa] HS) are No. 7 in 3:58.29.
