PELLA — Getting off its losing skid, the Central College women's basketball team powered past Nebraska Wesleyan University 72-43 Wednesday night.
After struggling to score much of January, Central (8-11, 3-7 American Rivers Conference) crossed the 70-point threshold for the first time since December 6. The Prairie Wolves (4-15, 1-9 conference) also scored the fewest points allowed by the Dutch all season.
Twelve different Dutch players scored but it was 17 from
CeCe Moore (junior, Waterloo, West HS) and 15 from
Kaitlyn Mumm (junior, Waukee, Des Moines Christian HS) that led the way. Moore also snared 15 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
Emily Naughton (junior, Indianola) had a team-high four assists.
McKenzie Snook (sophomore, Chariton) added seven points and seven rebounds.
Abbey Bence (junior, Burlington, West Burlington HS) also chipped in eight points.
Central is off this weekend before returning to action next Wednesday in Dubuque against Loras College for a 5:30 p.m. game.
