Dutch blank Storm in women's tennis match

Central adds a second A-R-C victory

PELLA— For the second time this week, the Central College women's tennis team blanked an American Rivers Conference opponent with a 7-0 drubbing of Simpson College Saturday.
           
Starting with a doubles sweep, Jenna Mitsuko Mahoney (senior, Misawa, Japan, Robert D. Edgren HS) and Madi Whalen (senior, Kansas City, Mo., Park Hill HS) were 6-3 winners at No. 1. Emma Murphy (junior, Liberty, Mo.) and Lauren Gano (junior, Johnston) took a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles, which matched Emily Blom (sophomore, Pella) and Sidney Peterson's (freshman, Johnston) score at No. 3.
           
Mahoney won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles while Whalen gutted out a 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 win at No. 2. Gano was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No. 3 and Murphy won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4. Blom won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 and Peterson was victorious 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6
           
The Dutch also had six players in action at the Central Invitational across town in Pella. Millie Wolfe (freshman, Iowa City) went 2-0 in Flight B singles. Liv Allely (freshman, Council Bluffs, Lewis Central HS) was 1-1 in Flight E singles and shared a Flight C doubles victory with Madison Price (junior, Ankeny, Centennial HS).
           
Central hosts Nebraska Wesleyan University at 4 p.m. Wednesday for another A-R-C dual.
