Dutch get positive result in first road contest

Box Score SAINT PAUL, MINN. — After allowing a goal just 15 seconds into the contest, the Central College women's soccer team settled in for a 2-2 tie on the road Wednesday.

Central (2-0-1) answered the early goal by Hamline (1-1-1) with a tally of its own in the 21st minute as Piper Eighmy (junior, Birmingham, Ala., Briarwood Christian HS) scored off an assist by Rylee Rustad (junior, Gilbert, Ariz., Casteel HS) for the second match in a row.

The Pipers took a 2-1 lead in the 66th minute before a penalty kick by MiMi Pavelka (senior, Shakopee, Minn., Holy Family) pulled the game level not even three minutes later for the final scoreline of 2-2.

"I'm proud of how we found ways to inch back after being down twice to get a draw on not our best day," coach Mike Kobylinski said. "The leadership on this team is some of the best I've ever seen.

"We are pleased to still be undefeated against tough teams from different leagues in our region but we have some things to work on as a collective after today."

Central hits the road again next Wednesday for a match against Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois at 4:30 p.m.
