STORM LAKE— Across all nine matches, the Central College women's tennis only dropped 10 games in a 7-0 whitewashing of Buena Vista University Tuesday.
The Dutch (2-0, 1-0 American Rivers Conference) earned the doubles point with a clean sweep of the three doubles matches over the Beavers (0-4, 0-1 conference).
Emma Murphy (junior, Liberty, Mo.) and
Lauren Gano (junior, Johnston) were 6-2 winners at the top while
Jenna Mitsuko Mahoney (senior, Misawa, Japan, Robert D. Edgren HS) and
Rebekah Christensen (junior, Marshalltown) won 6-1 at No. 2.
Emily Blom (sophomore, Pella) and
Sidney Peterson (freshman, Johnston) shut out their opponents 6-0 at No. 3.
Mitsuko Mahoney and Gano won by identical 6-2, 6-1 scores at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Murphy took No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-0. Blom, Peterson and Christensen all won 6-0, 6-0 to close out the lineup in order.
Central hosts Simpson College at 1 p.m. Saturday in an American Rivers Conference dual.
