INDIANOLA — The Central College men's track and field team had three more individual titles Saturday at the American Rivers Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The Dutch men were fourth as a team with 101 points. Wartburg College was the team champion with 233.25 points.
Gunner Meyer (junior, Fairbank, Wapsie Valley HS) topped the 110-meter hurdles field in a school-record time of 14.10 seconds.
"He's been running great all year and it is exciting to see him grow and develop each week," coach
Brandon Sturman said. "Running fast in this environment prepares him for the national meet."
In the triple jump,
Kale Purcell (senior, Holton, Kan.) took the lead on his fifth attempt and matched his own school record with a mark of 48-0.5
"It's exciting for him to win this event again," Sturman said. "He wanted to jump a little further but it was a good win."
Jack Brown (sophomore, Norwalk) won his second event of the meet with a time of 3:48.35 in the 1500 meters.
"Jack had a tough weekend with the steeple and 1500," Sturman said. "It was a PR for him in the 1500. He came back strong today against a good field and won a title."
Grant Miller (junior, Norwalk) had a pair of all-conference finishes in the javelin throw (191-9) and 110-meter hurdles (14.20 seconds).
Kale Hobart (sophomore, Mason City) set a school record in the 400-meter hurdles (52.71 seconds), finishing second.
A small contingent of Dutch athletes will compete at the Augustana Twilight Qualifier next Wednesday and Thursday in Rock Island, Illinois.
