Four Dutch men earn all-conference wrestling accolades

Two Central wrestlers qualified for the national meet


PELLA — The American Rivers Conference announced its all-conference wrestling awards Wednesday and four Central College wrestlers were cited for their efforts.

All-conference honors were handed out to the top-three finishers amongst league competitors at the NCAA Division III Region VI Championships meet that took place on February 28-March 1. In addition to the nine teams from the American Rivers Conference, the regional meet featured seven other programs.

Pierre Baldwin (junior, Carol Stream, Ill., West Chicago HS) won the 141-pound regional title. Carson Martinson (sophomore, Altoona, Southeast Polk HS) took second at 165 pounds, Sam West (junior, Burlington, Notre Dame HS) took fourth at 184 pounds and Carter Martinson (sophomore, Altoona, Southeast Polk HS) took fifth at 157 pounds.

Baldwin went 25-4 , Carson Martinson was 16-5, West was 18-8 and Carter Martinson was 21-5 on the season.

Massoma Endene (Wartburg College – 197 pounds) and Mitch Williamson (Wartburg College – 285 pounds) shared the league's Most Valuable Performer honors. Eric Keller of Wartburg was given coach of the year and Coe's Brayden Parke (125 pounds) was named the Freshman of the Year.
