PELLA—Rick Sanger, a former Central College standout linebacker, was inducted into the Iowa High School Athletic Association's Football Hall of Fame in November
Sanger, a 1996 Central graduate, was previously inducted into the college's Athletics Hall of Honor in 2014. He was a part of a seven-member class that was honored at halftime of the Class 4A high school championship game in Cedar Falls on November 21
At West Hancock High School in Britt, Sanger was two-time all-state linebacker and three-time all-conference pick. He helped lead West Hancock to three state playoff appearances from 1989-91. He rushed for over 3,000 career yards with 32 touchdowns while anchoring the defense with 183 tackles and six interceptions.
At Central, Sanger was a two-time All-American linebacker in 1994 and 1995. He's fourth in career tackles with 373. In 1994, he had the fourth-most tackles in a season with 124. On October 15, 1994 against Loras College, he tied a program record with 24 tackles in a game.
He is the Director of Technology of FullCount in Ankeny, a point of sales software company.
