Dutch defensive back in on two blocked punts

PELLA— The Central College football team traveled to Indianola and got a big 35-10 win over Simpson College on Saturday, November 8. In this game, Ben DeMeulenaere (senior, Chelsea, Belle Plaine HS), left his mark on special teams. With eight minutes and twenty-seven seconds left in the second quarter, DeMeulenaere recovered a blocked punt for a touchdown that put Central ahead 14-10. This wasn't all DeMeulenaere had in store, however, as later in the same quarter (this time with one minute and thirty-seven seconds left), he blocked a punt that was recovered and returned for a touchdown by Kyle Norton (senior, Vancouver, Wash., Evergreen HS) to extend Central's lead to 28-10, ultimately putting the game out of reach.

DeMeulenaere has been awarded A-R-C Special Teams Player of the Week for his heroics, and the Dutch football team is now 8-1 on the season with the regular season finale on the horizon, where it will host Coe College on Saturday, November 15.
