PELLA— The Central College volleyball team outlasted Clarke University for a 3-1 victory Tuesday night.
The Dutch (17-7) defeated the Pride (2-25) by the set scores of 25-13, 25-18, 20-25, 25-17.
"I'm a big believer that every set is a lesson to be learned," coach
Jeanne Czipri said. "Today was a good reminder of maintaining focus, discipline and grit when it is easier to coast. We're grateful to get the win but still a lot of work to be done."
Middle hitter
Maelyn Wainwright (sophomore, West Liberty) and outside hitter
Leslie Snow (senior, Olivia, Minn., BOLD HS) each had 11 kills.
Landry Pacha (junior, Wellman, Mid-Prairie HS) had 21 assists and
Makayla Ribble (senior, Iowa City) had 19.
Libero
Colleen Kenney (senior, Taylor Ridge, Ill., Rock Island Alleman HS) paced the team with 24 digs and five service aces on the night. Wainwright also added four service aces.
Central hits the road for Decorah Saturday and a 6 p.m. match against Luther College.
