Box Score CEDAR RAPIDS— In its final action of the fall season, the Central College women's tennis team topped two brackets at the American Rivers Conference Individual Championships Saturday.
Millie Wolfe (freshman, Iowa City) and
Rebekah Christensen (junior, Marshalltown) won all four of their Flight C doubles matches to take the title. They closed out their title run with a 6-4 win against Riley Mcclellan and Nellie Morgan of Wartburg College.
Wolfe and Christensen were the only tandem to beat another Central duo of freshmen
Kennedy Harms (Grinnell) and
Paige Benson (Newton). Harms and Benson went 4-1 and took third in the C Flight of doubles.
A 2-1 weekend in the B Flight of doubles earned
Jenna Mitsuko Mahoney (senior, Misawa, Japan, Robert D. Edgren HS) and
Madi Whalen (senior, Kansas City, Mo., Park Hill HS) a third-place finish.
In singles play,
Madison Price (junior, Ankeny, Centennial HS) was the E-Flight champion with a 4-0 record, defeating Kaylee Mazur of Loras College 5-3, 4-2 in the final.
Sidney Peterson (freshman, Johnston) and Wolfe finished third and fourth, respectively in the C-Flight of singles, each winning two matches before falling in their semifinal matches. Peterson won by injury default against Wolfe in the third-place match
The Dutch have completed the fall portion of their season, returning to action March 6 with a home match against St. Ambrose University.
