A career high from Emily Naughton leads to an A-R-C victory

CeCe Moore added a double-double


PELLA— Led by a career high of 30 points from Emily Naughton (sophomore, Indianola) the Central College women's basketball team earned a 73-63 victory over Loras College.
           
Naughton shot 8-19 from the field, 3-4 from three-point land and 11-13 from the free throw line. She also added eight rebounds, with four offensive rebounds, five assists, and one steal.
           
"Naughton was confident, and she let the game come to her," said coach Justin Weiland. "She also closed out the game at the free throw line after playing 29 minutes and only having four turnovers. That was big time."
           
CeCe Moore (sophomore, Waterloo, West HS) had her second double-double of the season scoring 13 points and collecting 13 rebounds with four offensive rebounds. She shot 5-7 from the field and added two blocks and one steal.
           
"Moore was a monster on the glass tonight," Weiland said.

Central outscored the Duhawks 37-23 in the second half including a fourth quarter when Loras shot 4-16 from the field.
           
As a team the Dutch (9-5, 2-3 American Rivers) shot 41.1% from the field, 37% from three, and 17-21 from the free throw line. Loras (5-9, 2-3 American Rivers) was held to 33.8% from the field and 30.3% from three.
           
"We put together a complete forty minutes today on both sides of the ball," Weiland said. "It was awesome to see, and we did it together."
           
Hannah Dau (senior, Paullina, South O'Brien HS) scored nine points on 3-6 shooting from three-point land, while also adding five rebounds, two offensive rebounds and two assists. Abby Johnson (senior, Ankeny) scored six points on 2-6 shooting. Samantha Scott (senior, Davenport, North Scott HS) scored six points as well.
           
The Dutch play next when they hit the road and travel to Lincoln, Nebraska to take on Nebraska Wesleyan University Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
