Central No. 2 amongst Division III teams

PELLA—The Collegiate Triathlon Coaches Association released its first national rankings and Central College came in at No. 21 amongst all NCAA programs.

The Dutch are the second-highest rated Division III squad, only trailing No. 12 North Central College (Ill.). Texas Christian University is No. 1 overall.

Team rankings are determined by combining the top five individual race scores from each program. Individual rankings are determined by averaging the time of the top three finishers and giving that time a 100%. The entire field of that race is given a score expressed as a percentage of the average time of the top three finishers.

Central freshman Adeline Koritz (Clinton, Ill.) is No. 148 nationally with a score of 80.39 at the Mount Shasta Tinman. Luci Laidlaw (junior, Pella) is No. 151 nationally with a score of 79.61 in the same race.

The rest of Central's top five are No. 171 Grace Benson (junior, Benton), No. 187 Taylor Jones (junior, Knoxville) and No. 215 Katelyn Freeman (junior, Castle Rock, Colo., Castle View HS). There are 272 qualifying athletes through the first three weeks

Central is at the Prairie State Cup Saturday in Clinton, Illinois.
