INDIANOLA— The Central College women's tennis team (4-2, 2-1 American Rivers) defeated Simpson College (2-2, 1-1American Rivers) 6-1 in an A-R-C showdown.
The squad snagged the doubles point winning all three of the matches with No. 1 doubles winning 6-4, No. 2 doubles winning 6-1 and No. 3 doubles winning 6-0.
In the singles matches the Dutch got wins from
Jenna Mitsuko Mahoney (junior, Misawa, Japan, Robert D Edgren) at No. 2 6-1, 6-2.
Jennifer Larson (senior, Johnston) added a three-set win at No. 4. As well as, 6-0, 6-0 wins from
Becca Vala (senior, Omaha, Neb., Elkhorn) at No. 3 singles,
Emma Murphy (sophomore, Liberty, Mo.) at No. 5 singles and
Emily Blom (freshman, Pella) at No. 6 singles.
The squad returns to the court when it travels to Kirksville, Missouri and take on Truman State (Mo.) Wednesday at 4 p.m.
"I love where we are as a team." Said Ferrell.
With this win Ferrell has passed Doug Stursma to become the all-time wins leader in Central women's tennis history with 107 career victories.
"(Coming to Central) was a great move for me and my family" Ferrell said. "This couldn't have been done without the athletes I have had, and their willingness to never quit and play hard."
