CEDAR RAPIDS — Suffering a 9-0 loss at Coe College, the Central College men's tennis team wrapped up the regular season Saturday morning.
The Dutch (8-13, 5-3 American Rivers Conference) finished in fourth place in the league standings. The Kohawks (15-13, 7-1 conference) were the league runners-up.
Two Central players were able to split sets in their singles matches.
Alex Slaymaker (freshman, Geneseo, Ill.) won the first set at No. 6 by a 6-3 margin but would finish with a 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (11-9) loss.
Alejo Marcon (sophomore, Resistencia, Argentina, Pella Christian HS) also won the second set in a 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7) loss in the No. 3 slot.
Central will host Nebraska Wesleyan University Tuesday at 4 pm in the American Rivers Conference tournament quarterfinals.
