INDIANOLA— For the second consecutive game and the third time this season, the Central College men's basketball team scored 100 points.
The Dutch (3-2, 1-0 American Rivers) defeated Simpson College 100-79.
"Our men played a really good offensive game," said coach
Joe Steinkamp. "There was a lot of great shot making on both sides and we are playing with a lot of confidence. It is always good to win games on the road in the American Rivers Conference."
Owen Schipper (freshman, Waukee) scored a new career high with 29 points on 11-19 shooting while also collecting two steals and one block.
Off the bench
Grant Uecker (freshman, Urbandale) scored 24 points on 8-11 shooting including going 6-9 from three-point land. He also dished out four assists.
"Schipper and Uecker were great," Steinkamp said. "We could tell the last couple weeks at practice they were starting to get comfortable. They are both great all-around players and really stepped up tonight. Uecker was great in late shot clock situations he made the right play every time. Schipper showed his all-around game scoring both inside and outside."
Kaleb Brand (5th-year, Mount Vernon) scored 17 points on 5-7 shooting while also collecting eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals.
"I loved Brands game tonight," said Steinkamp. "He filled the stat sheet and showed his mix of playmaking for others and scoring (himself)."
Joshua Van Gorp (5th-year, Pella, Pella Christian HS) recorded another double-double scoring 18 points and collecting 12 rebounds. He has had a double-double in every game so far this season.
