Eighmy leads Central women’s soccer team in win

Coates adds two goals

PELLA— Piper Eighmy (sophomore, Birmingham, Ala., Briarwood Academy) recorded a natural hat-trick in Central College women's soccer 6-0 win against Nebraska Wesleyan University Saturday.

"From the first whistle we were on and stayed on throughout the match and when we play like that, we are a tough team to stop," said coach Mike Kobylinski.

Eighmy scored her first goal in the sixth minute taking advantage of a corner kick from MiMi Pavelka (junior, Shakopee, Minn., Holy Family HS). In the 17th minute Eighmy would strike again with Alli Seegers (sophomore, Waverly, Waverly-Shell Rock HS) getting the assist.

Eighmy's third goal, and sixth of the season, would come just after halftime in the 46th minute when she scored off an Amber Santana (senior, Indio, Calif., Shadow Hills HS) assist.

"She has now scored five goals in the last three games, she has been johnny on the spot," said Kobylinski. "When you put a ball in the box, she rises like a young salmon, and no one can stop her."

Central (10-5-2, 3-2-2 American Rivers) continued the scoring when Grace Coates (senior, Marion) scored her sixth goal of the season once again from Seegers.

Santana added a goal to her assist in the 53rd minute scoring her fifth goal of the season after a shot from Kylie Bloomstrom (freshman, Forest Lake, Minn., Forest Lake Area HS).

The final goal for the Dutch came on a converted penalty kick once again by Coates in the 65th minute.

"Our training has been very good, said Kobylinski, "To go on a three-week unbeaten streak shows that we have started to click and that starts with the leadership, people accepting their roles, and putting the team first and we have done a great job of that."

The team outshot Nebraska Wesleyan (6-10-2, 1-5-2 American Rivers) 28-7 along with shots on goal with 13-1.

Goalkeeper Zoey Sizemore (sophomore, Omaha, Neb., Mercy HS) saved the only shot she faced.

The Dutch travel to Dubuque Tuesday to close their regular season taking on Loras at 3:30 p.m.
