Dutch women net another soccer shutout

Central posts shutouts in consecutive days

JACKSONVILLE, ILLINOIS — Playing for the second day in a row, the Central College women's soccer team secured a 4-0 road victory at Illinois College Sunday.
           
The Dutch (4-1-2) got a pair of first-half goals within two minutes of each other as Kaitlyn Isom (senior, Phoenix, Ariz., Horizon Honors) scored at 16:48 and Paige Cahill (senior, Castle Rock, Colo., Castle View HS scored at 18:43. Abby Frey (senior, Mesa, Ariz., Desert Ridge HS) assisted Isom and Grace Coates (Junior, Marion) assisted Cahill.
           
"We have been starting matches off well and putting teams on their heels," coach Mike Kobylinski said.
           
The Dutch added two more goals in a second-half flurry with goals from Amber Santana (junior, Indio, Calif., Shadow Hills HS) at 55:29 and Coates at 58:50. Frey assisted Santana and Cahill returned the favor to Coates with an assist.
           
"We scored some nice goals today and had balanced scoring yet again," Kobylinsi said.
           
The shutout was the fourth for the Dutch this season. Zoey Sizemore (freshman, Omaha, Neb., Mercy HS) got the win despite not making a save in her 79 minutes in goal. Bailey Lester (sophomore, Sioux Falls, S.D., Washington HS) did make one save in 11 minutes. The Lady Blues were limited to six total shot attempts.
           
"Our backline and goalkeepers were all tremendous," Kobylinski said. "This is a special team, and we like where we are at so far. We've got to keep doing the little things right."
           
Central travels to Grinnell College Wednesday for a 5 p.m. match.
