Central drops final men’s tennis match of the fall

Mustangs dump Dutch men on tennis courts

DES MOINES — Wrapping up the fall portion of its 2023-24 schedule, the Central College men's tennis team was defeated 7-0 by Morningside College Friday night.

Playing at a neutral site in Des Moines and under NAIA rules where the doubles are a best 2-of-3 format for one point, the Mustangs (2-0) got the best of the Dutch (0-2)

Central did get a win in No. 2 doubles from Ayden Fletcher (junior, Waukee) and Alex Slaymaker (freshman, Geneseo, Ill.), who took their match by a 6-4 margin. Morningside won the other two doubles matches to earn the point.

Gavin Jablonski (freshman, Marshalltown) won the opening set of his No. 6 singles match before ultimately losing 2-6, 6-0, 10-6.

The Dutch are off from competition until the beginning of its traditional spring season, schedule for January 27 at Bethel University.
