GRINNELL — The Grinnell College volleyball team swept Central College 25-17, 25-19, 25-20 in a midweek non-conference tilt Tuesday night.
The Dutch (3-3) committed a total of 42 errors in the loss, including 17 attack errors. In the serve game, Central had 12 service errors and eight reception errors.
"We unfortunately started flat against an always savvy Grinnell team and couldn't get into a groove," coach
Jeanne Czipri said.
Outside hitter
Natalie Gaszynski (senior, Huntley, Ill.) had a match high 10 kills, including six in the third set.
"Natalie showed a lot of leadership and stepped up," Czipri said "Not just with her performance, but with her energy as well."
Setter
Adisyn Illg (senior, Johnsburg, Ill.) had 10 assists and libero
Becca Vala (sophomore, Omaha, Neb., Elkhorn HS) had nine digs.
Taylor Richards and
Elyse Johnson each contributed on two blocks.
Central is in the Chicago area this weekend for three matches, starting with a 7 p.m. Friday night contest at Benedictine University in Lisle.
"We are hoping to finish working through things this weekend so that we can be ready to start the conference season with a bang next week," Czipri said.
