WAVERLY — Making their final attempts at NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships qualifying status, the Central College men's and women's track and field teams sent a handful of athletes to the Wartburg Qualifier Saturday.
           
No team scores were kept.
           
Abby Marr (sophomore, Riceville) added a couple of inches to her personal-best in the women's weight throw, winning the event in 56 feet, 8 inches.
           
Megan Johnson (sophomore, Parkersburg, Aplington-Parkersburg HS) did not improve her mark in the 5,000-meter run but placed fourth in 18 minutes, 21.52 seconds.
           
Men's high jumper Sam Beatty (junior, Mount Pleasant) cleared 6-7.5 to win the event. That mark is not an improvement from his previous best and is likely on the outside looking in.                                                                                                                       
           
Nolan Reynolds (junior, Montezuma) made incremental improvements in his 200-meter dash and 400-meter dash times, finishing seventh in the 200 (22.68 seconds) and ninth in the 400 (50.36).
           
Noah Jorgenson (sophomore, Sidney) finished second in the 800-meter run in 1:53.80. He ran faster earlier this season and that time has him safely in the field for the national meet.
           
The official qualifying list for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships will be released Sunday no later than 6 p.m.
