Dutch distance medley relay team drops time at Wartburg

Central in line for spot at national meet

PELLA — Running the third-fastest distance medley relay in program history, the Central College men's track and field squad crossed the line in 9 minutes, 59.08 seconds at the Wartburg Qualifier Friday night.

The Dutch were second behind Wartburg College and moved up to No. 6 in Division III so far this season. The top-12 times at the end of the day Saturday will qualify for the national meet next weekend.

The quartet of Dutch runners was made up of Adam Sylvia (junior, Rochester, Mass., Old Rochester HS), Carter Tryon (senior, Winterset), Noah Jorgenson (sophomore, Sidney) and Will DeHaan (senior, DeWitt, Central DeWitt HS). It was a six-second improvement from the group's previous best time at the American Rivers Conference Championships last weekend.

The distance medley relay was the only event for the Dutch Friday night. Central is back in action at the Wartburg Qualifier Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
