PELLA — Getting on its outdoor courts to play for the first time this spring, the Central College women's tennis team lost 8-1 against Truman State University Thursday.
The Dutch (10-9) are now 2-2 in the spring season. The Bulldogs are 8-2 on the season.
"We played hard," coach
Ryun Ferrell said. "I'm very excited about the future of this team. We are playing tough."
Central's lone point came from the No. 3 doubles team of
Alex Griggs (senior, Knoxville) and
Jenna Hernandez (sophomore, Slater, Ballard HS) who were 8-5 winners.
Hernandez pushed her No. 6 singles match to a third set before losing 2-6, 6-4, 10-3.
Alli Kreider (sophomore, Norwalk) also went to three sets at No. 5 singles 6-2, 3-6, 10-5.
Central hosts Northwestern College on Saturday at 11 a.m.
