BOSTON, MASS. — Finishing just off the pace of a new school record in the indoor 800-meter run, Central College men's track and field sophomore
Noah Jorgenson (Sidney) highlighted the day for the Dutch at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational Saturday.
No team scores were kept at the meet.
Finishing 33 rd out of 226 entries, Jorgenson's time of 1 minute, 51.84 seconds was .12 seconds off the school record set by Jon Lindaman in 2000. After conversion for the banked track, Jorgenson is up to No. 8 in NCAA Division III.
"It was a great day for Noah," coach
Joe Dunham said. "The 800 is going to be a tough field to get into at nationals but he did well today."
Caleb Silver (junior, Conrad, BCLUW HS) had school leaderboard times in both the 3,000 and 5,000-meter run. He crossed the line 27th in the 5,000 meters in 14:55.33, good for fourth all-time atCentral indoors. His 3,000 meters time of 8:45.16 is eighth in program history and placed him 64th Saturday.
"Caleb ran a great 5K in the morning and then came back to run a great 3K," Dunham said.
Adam Sylvia (junior, Rochester, Minn., Old Rochester Regional HS) was 206th in the mile (4:22.37) and
Will DeHaan (senior, DeWitt, Central DeWitt HS) was 220th (4:24.49).
"It just wasn't their night," Dunham said. "I'm confident they'll regroup and be ready to go next week and beyond."
Central is at the Liz Wuertz Invitational in Waverly next Saturday.
