Box Score DUBUQUE— A three-goal second half by Loras College was too much for the Central College women's soccer team to overcome in a 4-0 loss Saturday afternoon.
           
Central (1-1-0, 1-1-0 American Rivers Conference) was outshot 38-5 by the Duhawks (3-0-0, 3-0-0 conference). Loras put 15 shots on frame while Central only got one.
           
The Dutch started five first-year players and only one of those starters had ever played on the road at perennial power Loras.

"We saw a young team getting its first exposure to playing at Loras on their turf," Kobylinski said. "We learned some things today but to be fair it's only our second match in almost two years."
           
Starting goalkeeper Leann Grandia (junior, West Des Moines, Valley HS) made nine saves while allowing three goals. Substitute keeper Jasmyn Bush (freshman, La Porte City, Union HS) allowed a goal and made a save.

"Obviously, Leann had to make a lot of saves today," Kobylinski said. "Jasmyn got to see the speed of play at the collegiate level for the first time."
           
Offensively, forward Rachel Daniels (sophomore, Geneseo, Ill.) had two shots including the team's shot on goal. Forward Paige Cahill (freshman, Castle Rock, Colo., Castle View HS) also attempted two shots.

"Our bench and team atmosphere was a positive one today," Kobylinski said. "Even with the score line, I was pretty pleased with the team's attitude."

Central hosts Simpson College on Wednesday at 1 p.m.

"Hopefully, we can take some of our learning moments and carry them forward into our match against Simpson," Kobylinski said.
