PELLA—Two Central College players were named to the D3football.com Team of the Week after a 37-19 road victory over Nebraska Wesleyan University last Saturday.
Defensive lineman
Blade Durbala (senior, Blairstown, Benton HS) was cited, along with cornerback
Benjamin Crist (sophomore, Elizabeth, Ill., River Ridge HS).
Durbala blocked an extra point and forced a fumble while recording four tackles including 1.5 tackles for loss. It's the second time he received the D3football.com honor. He's a first-team American Rivers all-conference pick and was named to the D3football.com All-West Region third team as well in 2019.
Crist was cited for his play on special teams as he scooped up a blocked extra point and raced 81 yards for a two-point conversion, the first successful blocked extra point return in program history. He also had an interception and made four tackles.
The Dutch (2-0) close out the abbreviated spring season with a non-scored scrimmage with Buena Vista University Saturday at 7 p.m. at Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium. A video live stream can be accessed through the Central athletics website at athletics.central.edu. Prior to the scrimmage, six Dutch seniors not returning for the fall season will be honored.
