NAPERVILLE, ILL. — Central College senior setter
Regan Nelson (Pella) had back-to-back 23-assist performances Friday afternoon at the Tiffany Robinson Memorial Tournament.
The Dutch dropped its opening match against tournament host North Central (Ill.) 25-20, 25-13, 25-16 and later fell in the nightcap to Bethel University (Minn.) 25-13, 25-18, 25-12. North Central improved to 10-4 overall and Bethel is now 13-4 overall. Central's record falls to 8-17 on the season.
Sophomore hitter
Hana Edgerton (Grundy Center) had eight kills against North Central, just three away from her career-high. Edgerton also added three blocks in the opener.
Senior middle hitter
Jenna Dille (Carlisle) had seven kills against North Central and six kills against Bethel. Dille added three blocks in match two.
Tournament play continues for the Dutch Saturday with a match against St. Lawrence University (N.Y.) at 1 p.m. followed by a tilt against Trine University (Ind.) at 3 p.m.
Following the tournament, Central hosts its final Iowa Conference matches of the season when Wartburg College and Luther College come to Pella Friday and Saturday respectively. It's a 7:30 p.m. start time Friday night with the Knights and a 11 a.m. first serve against the Norse Saturday. Live stats and video for the conference contests can be found at
