MILWAUKEE, WIS. — Sophomore forward Claire Marburger (Perry) led all scorers with 22 points in a 73-38 Central College women's basketball victory over Mount Mary University (Wis.) Saturday.
Marburger added seven rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Sophomore guard Kaitlyn Johnson (Stockport, Van Buren HS) added 12 points with 4-of-7 shooting from 3-point range.
"Claire and Kaitlyn played solid games today," said coach Chelsea Petersen. "Claire led all scorers and Kaitlyn controlled the tempo of the game."
Junior guard Emily Dine (Oldsmar Fla., East Lake HS) added 11 points and two rebounds and junior forward Jackie Kriegel (Marengo, Iowa Valley HS) had nine points and eight rebounds.
The Dutch moved the ball well offensively, according to Petersen.
"We had 20 assists which led to having three scorers reach double digits," she said.
Central had things to clean up from Wednesday's 72-59 loss at Coe, Petersen said.
"We had two primary areas of improvement following Coe," she said. "Turn the ball over less and have better ball movement.
Central (6-1) returns to Iowa Conference play Wednesday at 6 p.m. against the University of Dubuque. The matchup will be just the second time the Dutch have played at P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium this season.
"We played well today and look forward to returning home Wednesday vs. Dubuque," said Petersen.
