Head Baseball coach Matt Schirm

Matt Schirm

Matt Schirm was named head coach of the Central baseball team prior to the 2015 season.
    
Schirm piloted the Dutch to three conference tournament berths in his first five seasons and has had players earn NCAA Division III all-region honors seven times. He’s compiled a 109-143 record.
    
He previously served as the top assistant at Wartburg College from 2011-14. He was the hitting coach for a team that lead the conference in hitting in two of his three seasons and won the 2013 conference regular season and tournament championships. 
    
A Coe College graduate, Schirm received all-Iowa Conference honors and served as team captain in 2001. He also played baseball in Nicaragua and El Salvador with Athletes in Action in 1999.
    
From 2001-03, Schirm served as pitching coach at University of the Cumberlands (Ky.),where he also earned a master’s degree in education. From 2004-2006, Schirm worked as assistant director at the North Carolina Baseball Academy in Greensboro, N.C. He gave thousands of private lessons and helped run numerous camps and clinics at the academy.
  
He received a master’s degree in human movement at A.T. Still University in 2009.
    
Schirm and his wife, Jessica, have three children.
