Why Central?
I chose central because of the immediate connection I felt when walking on campus for the first time. That combined with the opportunity to play baseball, and major in exercise science it was a match made in heaven!
Favorite professor and why?
I would have to say my favorite professor would be Chia Ning. I have only taken one class with her, but she brings so much passion and enthusiasm to the classroom you can’t help but be excited for class. She also teaches everyone a little bit of the Chinese language; I can now say hello and hamburger.
In your iPod?
I have a cornucopia of music on my iPod ranging from rock and roll to early 2000s hip-hop. Some of my personal favorites are Mac Miller, Migos, and Niykee Heaton, but if you’re looking for pre-game jamz… Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody or Kelly Clarkson: Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You) are no-brainers.
You’re majoring in Exercise Science because?
After graduation I plan to go into coaching baseball or strength and conditioning, so understanding how the body and its systems work is important to creating mechanically efficient athletes.
If you could bring one fictional character to life, who would it be and why?
Carl Gallagher from Shameless. He has been around the block a time or two, and would definitely have some good stories to tell.
If you were invisible, where would you go?
I would love to just follow Acer (Adam Carey) around for a day and see what kind of trouble he got himself into.
Favorite sport besides baseball
Track and Field or NASCAR, something about going fast and turning left gets me amped!
The best bat you’ve ever swung was…
It has to be Reuter’s Marucci Cat6, which was eventually deemed white lightning due to the outstanding power it supplied.
The best cartoon when you were a kid
Hands down Scooby-Doo! Tuning in to watch Daphne, Velma, Fred, Shaggy, Scoob, and the occasional cameo by Scrappy-Doo, follow the clues to catch the bad guys was second-to-none. Because if it weren’t for those meddling kids and their talking dog, the villains would have gotten away with it every time.
Most embarrassing moment as a baseball player
During a JV game in Louisville a few weeks ago Coach Deutscher and I raced after what we thought to be a passed ball. To our surprise it was actually ball 4 that had gotten by the catcher, and was still live.
Favorite TV Show
Breaking Bad
The one thing people don’t about Coach Deutscher?
He is extremely romantic. He loves long walks on the beach, and late nights on Xbox Live teaching his date how to pown noobs.
Why do you love Central baseball?
I love Central Baseball because of my teammates and coaching staff. We have created an incredible team culture that makes me excited for every opportunity to be with them. Whether it’s a conference double-header, 8pm practice indoors, or suffering through a 24 hour bus ride from Florida it’s guaranteed to be a good time.
“Ten years from now I’ll...”
I’ll be a college baseball coach, with a loving wife, and a few rascals running around the house.
Favorite food from Central Market
Nothing beats omelet day! But a close runner-up is loose meat and Lawry’s.
Bucket list
Visit every MLB stadium, sky-dive, learn to surf, meet Iron Chef Bobby Flay.
