Why did you choose Central?
I got recruited for soccer in my junior year of high school and came to visit the campus for a soccer camp. I just fell in love with the town and knew that this was the place for me.
Favorite professor and why?
Tammy Strawser is such a bright light and keeps learning fun and refreshing. She is very accommodating and teaches every subject in different ways to keep learning fun, which is helpful for me as an elementary education major.
You’re majoring in elementary education because?
I have always loved helping people understand topics that don’t come easily to them, and little ones are usually eager to learn.
Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?
I mainly focus on balancing my athletics and academics, although last year I helped with the international education club until I left for my semester abroad.
Who are your go-to musical artists?
Gracie Abrams, Lizzy McAlpine, and Noah Kahan for my everyday listening; Pitbull, Childish Gambino, and Tate McRae for pre-game pump-up.
How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?
It has taught me how to balance my schedule daily and has given me some of my best friends.
Favorite part about your semester studying in Australia?
Making connections with other study abroad students and doing things out of my comfort zone like skydiving, bungee jumping, and scuba diving.
What’s your ideal dream job?
3rd-grade teacher; 3rd graders are at a perfect age, in my opinion, where they are able to know wrong from right and begin building on their previous knowledge. They are more independent, so teaching becomes more about making learning fun and interesting rather than the students being the main responsibility.
Favorite time of day?
Sunset, it allows me time to wind down and reflect on the day I had and look ahead to my next days schedule before going to sleep. The weather and sky are usually best during sunset, and it reminds me to be grateful each day.
Fast food place you can’t get enough of in Pella
Culver’s is always so quick and reliable- by far the best Midwest food chain.
Favorite TV Show
Gilmore Girls- a fall favorite, it always makes me want to curl up under a blanket and stay in bed on a cold weekend.
What’s it like to compete for Coach Kobylinski?
It is a constant rollercoaster; every game and practice is unpredictable. He has some days when he is in a great mood and is very proud of our performance, and other days he pushes us until our level meets his standard. It pushes everyone on the team to work hard every day and helps us compete with each other while still being best friends when the play ends.
What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central’s women’s soccer team?
The team chemistry is such a driving force for me; the girls I play with here will be my best friends for life, and I try to work hard every day so that any chance I’m given on the field makes them proud.
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
I hope to be teaching 3rd grade in a medium-sized suburb near Chicago or St. Louis, living with my significant other and maybe a pet or two!
Favorite food from Central Market
Fruit pizza, it’s rare but top tier when it is featured.
Bucket list
I’d love to travel to Europe and visit the UK, Italy, and Greece someday!
