Amanada Sigulas
Morton, Ill.
Class of 2020
Why did you chose Central?
I chose Central because I felt at home when I first visited campus. I am from a small town in Illinois, and Pella felt very similar. I also chose Central for softball. I watched a practice when I visited and I loved the atmosphere and energy. I also knew that the program was very competitive and I would be challenged.
Favorite professor and why?
Karen Cleveland- I have had her for various psychology classes throughout my 4 years at Central, and I like that she has so much real life experience that can be applied to class to help students understand the material. She’s also very blunt and funny which always keeps class interesting.
You’re majoring in biology because?Â
I want to be a Physician Assistant one day. I am attending St. Ambrose’s Physician Assistant program next year.
Â
Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?
Not much, I give all of my energy to only a few things so that I can do each activity to the best of my ability. Softball, classes, and working as a phlebotomist at the hospital.
Who are your go-to musical artists?
Thomas Rhett, Dan and Shay, Billie Elish, Khalid
What are you summer plans for 2020?
I will be going to Spain with my Aunt at the beginning of June, and June 15th I will be starting grad school at St. Ambrose. So most of summer will be spent in classes.
What’s the best concert you have ever been to?
I have only been to one concert, Thomas Rhett. He was AMAZING.
Pancheros or chipotle?
CHIPOTLE- I feel very strongly about this one. I never heard of Pancheros until I came to Iowa, but every time I have it, it just doesn’t live up to my love for Chipotle. If I could have one meal for the rest of my life it would be Chipotle. The guac makes it.
Favorite TV Show
Reality TV- Bachelor (Even though it make be cheesy, it’s addicting because the suspense of having to wait a week to know what’s going to happen next, and it’s so entertaining)
Netflix- How to Get Away with Murder, Scandal, Jane the Virgin (I like a little bit of everything)
What’s it like to compete for Coach Wares?
I have been challenged and pushed as an athlete by Coach Wares more than I ever have been by any other coach.
What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central softball?
The connections and relationships I’ve made with so many different women. Being able to find a balance of intensity playing, having fun, and winning. Being able to wake up every morning excited to play a game that I love with a group of people that have the same mindset and goals.
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
I will be 32…...so I hope to be married with a couple kids, working as a successful physician assistant, helping people live their healthiest lives.
Favorite food from Central Market
Roasted veggie bowls, power bowls, fajitas, or tacos
Bucket list
Traveling- I love to go to new places, have new experiences, and try new foods.
