Bringing a high-energy persona to a steadily improving program, Justin Weiland arrived as Central College women’s basketball coach in August, 2023.

Central went 15-12 in 2024-25 during Weiland's second year leading the program. The Dutch won their first road American Rivers Conference tournament contest in program history, advancing to the semifinals for just the third time. Abby Johnson was a repeat all-conference selection while sophomores Emily Naughton and CeCe Moore were tabbed for honorable mention.

In his first season, Weiland guided the Dutch to a seventh-place finish in the American Rivers Conference with a 5-11 mark in league games. Central was 11-14 overall with four non-conference road wins. Abby Johnson was a first-team all-conference selection and Allison Van Gorp was honorable mention.

From 2021-23, Weiland served as assistant coach at Grinnell College after spending two seasons in a similar role at Upper Iowa University and a year at Bemidji State University (Minn.). He earlier spent a season as head coach at Ellsworth Community College.

He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he spent the 2014-15 season as a practice player for the Division I women's program.
