Central College Athletics

Allan Walz joined the Central men's and women's track and field coaching staff in 2009.

He works primarily with the hammer throw, weight throw and discus. Throwers Walz has coached on the Dutch men’s team have earned all-conference honors 24 times in 16 years with seven conference titles. The women have 16 all-conference honorees with seven conference title winners. Kennedy Morris earned All-American honors in the women’s weight throw in 2021. In 2023, Theo Baldus qualified for the outdoor national meet in the discus throw and Abby Marr was an indoor national qualifier in the weight throw.

A former Bondurant-Farrar High School standout, Walz broke the Drake Relays high school discus record and the state meet mark as well while also lettering in football, basketball and baseball.  At the University of Northern Iowa, Walz set school records for the hammer throw and the weight throw. He was a NCAA Division I all-America honoree in the weight throw and was a national outdoor meet qualifier in the discus.

Walz earned a bachelor’s degree from Northern Iowa and is a financial consultant at MidWestOne Investments in Pella.
