DUBUQUE — The Central College women's tennis team made quick work of the University of Dubuque Tuesday night in the American Rivers Conference tournament quarterfinals for a 4-0 win.
Central (8-10) advances to play the No. 1 seed Luther College Thursday in Decorah.
The Dutch earned the doubles point by winning at No. 2 and No. 3.
Jenna Mitsuko Mahoney (senior, Misawa, Japan, Robert D. Edgren HS) and
Claire Smock (freshman, Pella) fought for a 7-5 at No. 2 while
Emily Blom (sophomore, Pella) and
Sidney Peterson (freshman, Johnston) cruised to a 6-0 win at No. 3
In singles play, Blom won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles and Peterson won 6-3, 6-0 and No. 5.
Rebekah Christensen (junior, Marshalltown) also won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 to give Central enough points for a team victory.
