Eighteen Dutch athletes on all-region track and field list

Nine men and nine women recognized by USTFCCCA

PELLA — A record 18 members of the Central College men's and women's track and field squads were recognized as All-Midwest Region performers for the indoor season by the USTFCCCA Wednesday.
           
To be named All-Region, an athlete must either be ranked in the top five of an individual event in the region or be part of a top-three relay team.
           
Both Ava Parkins (junior, Monmouth, Ill., Burlington Notre Dame [Iowa] HS) and Peyton Steffen (senior, Marion) were all-region in four events. Parkins made it for the 60-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash and 4x400-meter relay. Steffen was recognized in the mile run, 3,000-meter run, 5,000-meter run and distance medley relay. Emily McMartin (senior, Pella) had three all-region spots; the 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash and 4x400-meter relay. Olivia Bohlen (senior, Belle Plaine) was all-region in the 60-meter hurdles and pentathlon. Alivia Roerdink (junior, Tiffin, Ohio, Hopewell-Loudon HS) and Kennedy Petersen (freshman, Story City, Roland-Story HS) in the 4x400-meter relay, Maddy Stevens (freshman, Grimes, Dallas Center-Grimes HS), Olivia Phillips (freshman, Saint Charles, Interstate 35 HS) and Kyra Cordes (freshman, Marion) in the distance medley relay and Karlee Warnke (junior, Primghar, South O'Brien HS) in the long jump round out Central's women's honorees.
           
Kale Hobart (junior, Mason City) was a three-event honoree in the 60-meter hurdles, long jump and heptathlon. Kale Purcell (fifth year, Holton, Kan.) was honored in the triple jump and long jump. Gunner Meyer (senior, Fairbank, Wapsie Valley HS) was tabbed in the 60-meter hurdles and high jump. Jack Brown (junior, Norwalk) was recognized in the mile run and 3,000-meter run. Lance Bunde (sophomore, Guthrie Center, ACGC HS) in the high jump, Grant Miller (senior, Norwalk) in the 60-meter hurdles, Gage Huyser (senior, Pella), Landon Pote (freshman, Ankeny) and Gavin Smith (senior, Audubon) in the heptathlon finish out Central's men's honorees.
           
Central's national qualifiers will compete at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in Birmingham, Alabama this weekend.
