WATERLOO — Saving her best round for last, Central College's
Allie Pfantz (junior, State Center, West Marshall HS) won medalist honors at the American Rivers Conference Women's Golf Championships Tuesday.
After shooting her worst round of the season in round two, Pfantz carded the best round of anyone in the field with a final round 76 (+4) on the par-72 Sunnyside Country Club in Waterloo. She carded back-to-back birdies on the fifth and sixth holes and held on to the win despite bogeying the 17th and 18th.
Pfantz wins the 13th individual title in program history, the first since Lydia Grond in 2022, with a score of 77-82-76--235. Pfantz has finished top five at all three of her conference championships appearances, taking runner-up as a freshman and fourth last year.
In the team standings Central placed fifth (348-354-334—1036). The University of Dubuque was the team champion at 327-315-317—959.
It wasn't just Pfantz who had her best round of the tournament as the team cut 20 strokes off its round two score.
