PELLA— After winning the doubles point, the Central College women's tennis team mustered just two singles wins in a 4-3 loss against the University of Dubuque Saturday.
           
Central (5-4, 4-4 American Rivers Conference) got wins at No. 2 doubles and No. 3 doubles to start with a 1-0 lead. Lauren Gano (junior, Johnston) and Sidney Peterson (freshman, Johnston) won 6-0 at No. 2 and Emily Blom (sophomore, Pella) and and Rebekah Christensen (junior, Marshalltown) won 6-4 at No. 3.
           
In singles play, Gano won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Peterson won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 singles. The Spartans took the other four singles matches to secure the match victory.
           
The Dutch take on Morningside University Monday at 4 p.m. from the Poortinga Family Tennis Courts.
