PELLA — Central College landed 10 student-athletes on the winter sports American Rivers Conference all-academic team Wednesday

The Dutch women's basketball team led the way with four honorees. Sami Craig (junior, Altoona, Southeast Polk HS) was a repeat selection from last year while Jenna Clark (sophomore, Story City, Roland-Story HS), Mary Faulkner (senior, Glendale, Ariz., Sunrise Mountain HS) and Maci Gambell (sophomore, Hedrick, Pekin HS) were all first-time recipients.

Wrestler Tanner Zimmerman (senior, Indianola HS) was the school's only three-time honoree for the winter sports season. He was joined by two-time honoree Griffen McBride (junior, Pleasantville) and first-time honoree Winton Neal (sophomore, Camdenton, Mo.).

Three men's basketball sophomore were honored for the first time: Seth Moeller (Bondurant, Iowa/Bondurant-Farrar HS), Thomas Spoehr (Bennington, Neb.) and Joe Weber (Dunlap, Iowa/Over Valley HS).

To qualify for the distinction, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in academic standing with one year at his/her current school, achieve a 3.5 GPA or better and compete at the varsity level.
